I had the paperwork completed, my visa in hand, the plane ticket bought! I was already and set to go! I had my fears of course but I figured that I would set those aside and just pack them into the bottom of my suitcase. All that was left was to say my goodbyes and let everyone know who didn't already know I was leaving that they wouldn't be seeing me for a year. Even my fortune cookie had told me that I was all ready and set to leave!


Typically in these conversations I would be asked what I would miss the most. Now being a kid raised in Arizona I would promptly respond "Mexican food." Most of the time I would then get a dumbfounded response of "They don't have Mexican food there!?" I would then stare at them for a moment, think how I could be polite and say "Well it is a different country..." In all reality yes Chile and Mexico both speak Spanish but they are still 4,600 miles away. The east coast in the states has yet to experience In-N-Out so why would Chile be filled with Mexican food?

So, now here I am in Chile preparing to start my study abroad adventure and my search for Mexican food! Chile is beautiful though and as with views like the sun rising over the Andes Mountains I may be able to forget about my cravings for Mexican food...at least for the moment...


So here is to an adventure like no other, a lack of Mexican food, and a craving to always know and experience more.

Working Hard...or hardly working

So it's been about a month now since I started my internship in Bolivia. Can you believe that?! I can't. Time sure does tend to move quickly. Anyways...I thought I would fill you all in on what exactly I am doing for my internship. So with out all of the technical mumbo jumbo I am updating the blueprints of the water and waste water systems for a municipality that provides services to a small section of the city. As of right now their plans are out of date which makes it difficult to expand and maintain the network. Thus that is where I come in! I have the technical knowhow of the computer systems to be used and the time to wander around the streets collecting data on the piping network! In all reality I love walking. I could walk 20 miles before I would ever run one, so I am really excited to spend my days outside! *Don't worry, I'll also be with someone who knows the area so I don't get lost or wander to far and all that. Holly Week/Semana Santa

First and foremost I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! If I am honest with all of you the hardest part about studying abroad has been being away from my family during the holidays. These are the days when I miss home the most, but it’s okay. Promise. At the same time I smile at the memories and traditions that I have with my family because when I am away from it, it also reminds me how blessed I am. **To give you an idea of how my family does the holidays, at 22 I am the youngest and we still do an egg hunt…it is a blast and no easy feat.** Here in Bolivia I was able to participate in the traditions of another family, and let me tell you, I partied it up like a Catholic this Easter. I went to the pueblito of Anzaldo which is a few hours from Cochabamba up in the mountains.
